Escapegoat Adventures, a South Australian MTB Tour Company, has successfully obtained approval to take guided tours on one of the Mt Lofty Ranges (Adelaide) iconic fire tracks. This approval is unprecedented in SA as access to Cleland National Park on Bikes has always been off limits. While the tour is held on some well groomed fire tracks, the vertical drop is significant and riders will enjoy the some fantastic views, local wildlife and the MTB experience. The work done by Escapegoat to gain commercial access to these fire tracks paves the way for recreational access for all riders to one of South Australia’s most popular parks. This access to Cleland, in addition to newly approved single track access in Belair National Park is the first step in the implementation of the updated Cycling in Parks Policy as developed by the Dept for Environment and Heritage.

MTB access in SA National Parks is set to be expand in a strategic, well planned manner as various Trail Master Plans are rolled out in 2010. This access is the result of a long and difficult advocacy drive by groups like Bicycle SA, Inside Line MTB Club, the Adelaide Mountain Bike Club and dedicated trail advocates.
