IMBA Australia is travelling to WA to assist the Cape Mountain Bikers in Dunsborough and the Shire of Busselton to review existing trails in Meelup Regional Park. This review of existing trails will facilitate the development of a Trails Master Plan for the Park, whereby new trail proposals and trail closures will be put forward for community comment. The partnership between the local riders and the Shire Council is an excellent example of how trail development can proceed in both regional and urban areas.
Meelup is a special little place with glorious sea views, unique flora and fauna and tough terrain which is suitable for trails. As well as conservation issues, die back areas also need to be managed effectively in order to allow sustainable bike access to the Park. IMBA Australia is proud to be involved and we hope to find solutions to all the issues so that the community can enjoy the Park without impacting on it.
